In this homily, Fr. Edward Mazuski traces the unexpected and even “scandalous” path of God’s grace and salvation, through such unlikely figures as Moses and St. Paul, and most scandalous in our crucified Lord, in whom the “scandal” becomes the “miracle.”

This article is inspired by the sole memorial window in the monastic choir, dedicated to William Dixon Horton, M.D. A bit of historical research points to a surprising if inconclusive identification of just who this man was.
